Big News: Our New Community Platform Is Here!
Plus: this month’s creative project prompt, the return of our virtual meetup, and some fresh finds to inspire you.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve written, and I’m still uncovering vintage and antique treasures in my batch of mystery craft bins. But this week, I’ve been elbows-deep in paper mâché, bringing a broken, personality-less table sculpture back to life.

It started as one of those “what even is this?” pieces. A little damaged, totally bland, and on its way to the trash. But I saw potential. With an egg carton paper mache paste, and a whole lot of patience, I’ve been transforming it into something totally new. Something with texture and presence.

I’m not sure it’s done yet, but I’ve been enjoying it in this state. It’s already reminding me why I love upcycling so much: it’s not just about saving things, it’s about reimagining them. And sometimes, the most overlooked objects become the most expressive art.
Let’s get into what else is happening this week—because the creativity hasn’t stopped there.

PS. You’ve gone ahead and purchased every single piece of vintage lace I listed (thank you!). But have no fear, there’s plenty more to list and it’s headed your way soon.

➡️ Our Project of the Month is Back! 💫
Project of the Month: Make Something Temporary
This month, we’re challenging you to make something beautiful, clever, or surprising—knowing full well it won’t last.
Inspired by Instagrammer @candidly.carly, who arranges letters into witty, fleeting phrases and captures them in photos, we’re leaning into the art of the temporary.
What can you make from scraps, clutter, or leftovers that exists just long enough to be appreciated—and maybe photographed—before it disappears?
Arrange a pile of clothes into a bold pattern. Line up food scraps into a mandala before composting. Shape yarn ends, junk mail, or broken bits into something expressive. Then… reset. Wipe away. Let it go.
Sometimes the most freeing projects are the ones that aren’t meant to last.
📸 Share your ephemeral creations in our new Project Show & Tell space or tag us on social—we can’t wait to see what comes (and goes) this month.

✨ New in the Blog: For Anyone Feeling a Little Squeezed
What do you do when your sewing machine breaks and fixing it costs more than buying a new one? Gabriela faced that choice and found herself reckoning with more than just a repair bill.
In this honest, beautifully written post, she reflects on the pressure to choose convenience over care, and what it means to stay aligned with your values when everything around you says “replace it.”
If you’ve ever felt stretched thin or quietly worn down, this one's for you. Read it here →
