I Took a Gamble on 10 Craft Bins... and Hit the Vintage Jackpot

What I found in 10 mystery craft bins (and what I’m making next).

Last week, I was still figuring out how to fix a slightly overpainted tea box. This week? I drove 45 minutes to pick up 10+ mystery craft bins—contents sight unseen—and let’s just say, I won big, and since it’s all for Remnants, you will too.

The previous owner was a serious collector of vintage and antique supplies, including some incredible pieces dating back to the Victorian era. I’ve just started digging in, but already uncovered an entire bin filled with vintage and antique lace that had me speechless.

I made a quick TikTok to share the moment I opened that bin. And trust me, this is only the beginning of what’s to come from this reuse haul.

@peovee

I can't wait to share this all with you, and even more I can't wait to see what you'll make with the lace you love. All of this going up i... See more

Let’s get into it! There’s so much to share this week.

Project of the Week

This week’s project is inspired by a heartfelt share from Betsy, who showed us how to turn the sleeves of a loved one’s shirt into a cozy, memory-filled neck pillow—and the way she describes it? “It feels like I’m getting a hug from my hubby.”

Betsy’s clever diagram and simple technique reminded me that upcycling can be both practical and deeply personal. And honestly, with the neck pain I managed to give myself just by sleeping (hello, aging!), this project feels especially timely.

Tackling this Project

Turn your fabric scraps into something comfy and practical! In this quick tutorial, you’ll learn how to make a cozy travel neck pillow using leftover fabric as stuffing. It’s a simple, sustainable project that keeps scraps out of the landfill and gives you something soft to rest your head on. 💆‍♀️♻️ Watch the video →

There’s no rule that says a neck pillow has to be boring. Get creative, add a personal neck pillow flare. Want your pillow to have hands you can hold onto while you drift off? Go for it. Want it in hot pink velvet with gold trim? Absolutely. One shaped like a crescent moon? Now we’re talking.

And if you’re like me and currently dealing with neck pain earned by the very radical act of sleeping, you’ll understand just how valuable a good pillow can be.

Whether you're looking for function, comfort, or memory-stitched magic—this is a project worth trying. ❤️
