Our June Project is here... 🥁🥁🥁

You voted for this upcycle project...

Happy Monday upcyclers! Summer is upon us, bringing with it the perfect opportunity to dive into a new and exciting creative challenge. Last week, you voted to select our June prompt and the results are in… 🥁🥁🥁… Old Photographs, Upcycled!

Our challenge this month is to upcycle old photographs into something unique, beautiful, and functional. Dig out your memory bins or even bid on some antique photographs. Dig in and just create — art, home decor, jewelry, or something entirely unexpected!

This month, let’s stroll down memory lane and give a few forgotten photographs a fresh purpose.

Get inspired

This hand-embroidered photo by PamelaArt on Etsy brings so much energy and life to this antique photograph. The crochet trim added to the photo, but somehow tied it back to it’s antique origins, no?

In this next example, also by PamelaArt, stitching sparks this otherwise dull yearbook photo. Imagine upcycling your parents yearbook photos and turning them into art you might actually want to display! (Bonus points if you make the backing paper from old egg cartons).

🎞️ Are old photos limited to paper? Absolutely not! Unpack those slides and negatives, too. Use a simple lampshade technique like this one by @itsconnorcreates - or take it a step further and design something of your own.

From the community

This week, Elle shared some honestly awesome chair upcycles, each one more unique than the next. This reminded us, we need a furniture flip project thread! So we created one; thanks for the inspiration, Elle!

🔮We see this project getting silly, having some big 🤯 moments, and lots of nostalgia and we want to hear about all of it. Share what you come up with and inspire all of us with your project ideas - and your stories behind the photographs here.

In this together,
