Oh, Hi There

We're back after a short break...

It’s been a little while since I’ve popped into your inbox, but here we are—new month, new energy, and no set theme this time. Just a space to share, create, and connect in whatever way feels right for you.

This week, I’m catching up on some exciting community activity, new sellers on Remnants, and a better way to shop for fabrics by price. Plus, in the blog, Gabriela shares how to turn leftover fabric into stylish scrunchies.

Let’s dive in

📜 What’s Happening in the Community

Last month, you shared a lot of projects and perspectives, and we love to spotlight your work. Here are a few stand-outs from this past few weeks.

Reused Patterns: a New Pattern Swappers Group by Maggie

We love this idea and can’t wait to see what comes from this fun new group! Maggie also created a whole bunch of discussion threads where pattern swappers can share patterns by topic: plastic canvas, beadwork, macrame, crochet, knitting and more!

➕ the Pattern collection on Remnants is exploding lately with plenty of goodies, as are our Craft Kits, for the crafter who likes their pattern to come with all the parts.

Celeste’s Dathomir Sith Librarian

Celeste is proving that cosplay and upcycling go hand in hand! Her Dathomir Sith Librarian costume is a work in progress, and the materials are as creative as the design itself. The red tabard? An old shower curtain embroidered with thrifted yarn. The tunic? A repurposed Christmas tablecloth. The black fabric? A secondhand bathrobe.

Cynthia’s Wide-Leg Jeans

Cynthia is taking a stand against textile waste with her latest upcycling project—wide-leg jeans made from repurposed denim, twill, and leather. By giving these materials a second life, she’s proving that sustainable fashion can be both stylish and impactful.

🏷️ New Sellers on Remnants

We’re thrilled to welcome some incredible new sellers to Remnants! Whether you’re looking for vintage buttons, unique fabric remnants, or specialty craft supplies, these new shops are bringing fresh finds to the marketplace.

📝 New in the Blog

Upcycling Project: Scrunchies

Fashion trends may come and go, but upcycling keeps them alive in new and creative ways. In her latest blog post, Gabriela transforms fabric scraps from Remnants and repurposed facemask elastic into the perfect scrunchies—stylish, sustainable, and oh-so-practical.

She’s breaking down her process step by step, including ideal measurements for that perfectly puffy scrunchie so you can make your own. Ready to give your fabric scraps a fresh start?

Transforming a Plain Purse with Upcycled Velvet

“Months ago, I covered a stain on my purse at a workshop—but I never loved the fix. So why not upcycle it again? Enter: a stunning 1950s velvet fabric I had stashed away (because, let’s be honest, I can’t resist velvet). With a little hand-stitching, a few creative pivots, and some trial and error, my once-neglected bag is now something I love to carry.”

Sometimes, all it takes is another round of creativity to turn “meh” into magic. 💫

✂️ Monthly Craft Café & Supply Swap

A couple of weekends ago we hosted our second monthly meetup—and the swap was a true gem. Sending gratitude to those who came, donated, and crafted with us.

Join us next month (and the second Sunday of each month) and get in on the fun! Details and RSVP »

Happy upcycling,
