Our Upcycle Year in Review!
Joyful Projects, Sparkly Beads, & 2025 Resolutions
As 2024 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible year we’ve had together. From growing our community to launching Remnants and sharing heartfelt upcycling stories, it’s been a journey full of sustainable creativity and connection. Thank you for being part of it all!
Here are five standout moments I’m celebrating as the year ends:
Launching Remnants, turning a career change into an exciting new venture. When I was laid off in October, I thought, why not launch the marketplace I’ve been dreaming of? And so Remnants was born. It’s been an exciting start and I truly can’t wait to see what’s ahead for 2025.
Meeting Gabriela, whose weekly posts inspire and warm my heart.
Life has an interesting way of connecting kindred spirits. Gabi has been more than just an awesome addition to the Peo Vee blog, but a new friend. Her writing is heartfelt and warm, humorous and witty—just like she is. Get to know her better through her Substack here.Starting our meetups; small but filled with joy and connection.
We’ve hosted just two and they’ve been quaint, but I left both of these little moments of dedicated social ‘make’ time on cloud nine. I’ve loved meeting those of you who’ve joined and hope you’ll come back and craft with me again next year.Growing our community to over 3,300 upcyclers—HUZZAH!
Passing 3,000 members was such an exciting milestone. Growing this community has been a passion project for so long and it never stops being exciting to see new people join.Collaborating with Other Lives on our first workshop.
Other Lives founders Kim and Betsy are giving unwanted clothes an afterlife, and it was lovely getting a chance to collaborate with them on our first ever workshop this fall. These two and their work to challenge throwaway culture are a true inspiration.
Thank you all for being part of this amazing journey. Let’s make 2025 even better!

Upcycling Got Us Through Another Year
Gabriela’s Year in Review. This week, Gabriela shared a heartfelt recap of her year in articles and how upcycling helped her navigate 2024. Her story is a beautiful reminder of how creativity can bring solace and joy.
This week, we made an impromptu Chanukiah made out of a traffic stick sign found on the ground
How Not to Paper Mache a Pumpkin into a Snowman
A chaotic journey into paper mache and a how-not-to-guide. Experienced paper machers please look away. A joyful upcycle project to say the least.
💬Community Meetup
To those who joined our last upcycle meetup: Hiii👋
For those who didn’t: we crafted, we chatted, and admired projects like Jane’s upcycled jeans with mushroom appliqués. We also got to meet Paulina, whose art from waste has been inspiring us, and Jennifer, who brought pomanders made from oranges and cloves. These moments remind me why I love this community so much.
Join us for our January Zoom Meetup on Sunday, Jan 26th at 11am PT for our project show-and-tell and social craft time!
