What brings you joy?

Upcycles to end the year, a little happier

In partnership with

Last weekend I took a Thanksgiving day drive with my husband into Yosemite and then down through the Giant Sequoia forest. I took a break from writing this newsletter, but I thought about you, the Peo Vee community, all weekend as I drove through winding roads, and breathed in the forest air.

I thought about all this community has become this year and dreamed about what it will become yet in 2025. I got excited as I thought about our new marketplace, Remnants, and how many of you have already applied to be sellers 🥰. I thought about my top moments this year (more on that later) and on how I’d like to spend what’s left of 2024. I realized in these moments of relaxation, that the last month of the year is the perfect time to slow down and focus on the little things that bring us joy. Whether it’s a warm cup of tea, a favorite craft supply, or the thrill of transforming something old into something new, joy can be found in the simplest of moments.

This month, let’s dive into what brings you joy. Our prompt: Joyful Upcycles: Make something that makes you happy—whether it’s something you love to create or something you’ll love to have around. Maybe it’s a cheerful upcycled decoration, a practical item with a pop of personality, or just a project that makes you smile from start to finish.

We can’t wait to see what brings you joy—share your projects on Peo Vee, and let’s inspire one another!

A Few Projects that Bring Me Joy

Take inspiration from a few upcycle project ideas that spark joy for me. Not your thing? Respond to this email with some ideas of your own and we’ll share our favorites next week.

Making snowflakes out of scraps

There’s something so wonderful about chopping away at paper and not knowing what you’ll get until you open it up for the reveal. These paper bag snowflakes with gingerbread detail are chefs kiss 🤌🤌so joyful.

Anything shaped into a wreath

I love that craft wreaths can be compiled from many objects and yet easily disassembled back into parts. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of our holiday decor was just parts? Pieces to be assembled in new ways and shapes each season… Now that’s a joyful idea💡

When it comes to wreaths that spark joy for me, I’m thinking wild and crazy kitsch. Like this wreath by Lovekitschbynancy on Etsy.

PS. Do yourself a favor and go down the kitsch wreath rabbit hole on Etsy. It’s a special vibe.

Natural materials, painted

Acorns painted in holiday patterns and sticks made to look like feathers and tails. It brings me joy to not only paint these things, but to see them in all their unusual glory.
